Hands On A.I. & Robotics

July 13th – 17th, 2026

9:00 am – 3:00 pm

*Max capacity for this camp is 20 boys*
For boys in rising grades 6 – 9

Overview

The young men of tomorrow must be more than just users of technology – they must be its architects and stewards. The Hands On AI & Robotics Camp is a high-tech expedition into the heart of the modern frontier. Using advanced robotics platforms – including the new LEGO® Education Computer Science & AI system – participants will learn to treat code and circuitry like a master craftsman treats wood and steel: with precision, patience, and a vision for the common good. This camp is an intensive intellectual journey into the architecture of thought. By studying how robotic sensors emulate human sensory systems, students will gain a tangible understanding of how information is gathered and processed. In particular, we will explore the frontier of Computer Vision and Machine Learning. This technical foundation leads us to AI Ethics and Stewardship. Just as we train our own minds to make virtuous choices, we must consider the “logic” we give our machines. We will explore the creator’s responsibility: ensuring that when a machine acts, it serves the common good. Our goal is to pair technical mastery with the moral resolve to lead in an automated age.

The Daily Schedule

Our day balances rigorous indoor engineering with high-energy outdoor collaboration.

● The Lab: Our classroom transforms into an engineering hub where boys
master AI challenges and build robotic systems through intuitive coding and rapid
prototyping.

● The Seminar: A focused midday session on the “Architecture of Thought.” We explore the biology of the human brain, the mechanics of Computer Vision, and the vital ethical responsibilities of the modern digital steward.

● Daily Field Missions: We head to the Sparhawk grounds for “Analog Logic” challenges; team-based strategy games like The Human Sensor Maze (Blind Navigation) and Distributed Neural Network (Capture the Flag Variant), where boys apply robotic navigation principles to high-energy, large-scale coordination challenges.

Hands On A.I. & Robotics FAQs

What’s the schedule of an average day of the camp look like?

Camp runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (drop-off starts at 8:45 AM;
pick-up by 3:15 PM). The day alternates between deep-focus engineering and outdoor

teamwork challenges.Where does the camp take place?

All camp activities will take place at Sparhawk Academy.

What should my son bring?

Campers should bring a bag lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen,
and bug spray for our outdoor sessions.

Can my son bring electronics?

Following Sparhawk policy, personal cell phones and electronics are not permitted. This ensures campers focus on the work, the environment, and building real friendships.

Camp Leadership

Jaime Ide PhD, is a Research Scientist, Engineer, and Educator with over 20 years of expertise in the fields of AI and Neuroscience. A member of the Sparhawk Academy faculty and the Sigma Camp faculty, Dr. Ide brings high-level research experience directly to the classroom. His mission is to inspire young men to master the tools of the future by drawing connections between human intelligence and modern technology, teaching them to build with the precision of a scientist and the character of a craftsman.
