Is Sparhawk Academy accredited?

Yes. In the summer of 2025, Sparhawk Academy was awarded Cognia® Accredited status across grades 3 through 12, conferred by the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission. Cognia is a nonprofit organization that provides quality assurance for schools, school districts, and education service providers.

What grades does Sparhawk Academy serve, and do you offer a high school program?

Sparhawk serves boys in grades 3 through high school. Sparhawk opened in 2018 as a school for boys in grades 3 through 8. In the fall of 2024, the Sparhawk Academy Board of Trustees voted unanimously to add a grade 9 offering beginning in fall 2025, with grade 10, 11, and 12 added over three consecutive years. By fall 2028, Sparhawk will enroll boys in grades 3 through 12.

What is the average class size?

The average class size varies based on the grade level. In general, there are no more than 20 students in the upper grades, with smaller classes at the lower school level.

What extracurricular activities and clubs are available?

Sparhawk students have the opportunity to participate in after school sports, clubs, and hobbies organized by the school. Activities will change according to season and the interests of the boys.

Examples of after-school and lunchtime club extracurriculars include Chess club, Math club, Greek club, Outdoorsman club, Lego club, Robotics and Coding, Theater, and Board Game club.

What sports programs does Sparhawk offer?

We compete against other schools in cross-country and soccer in the fall, basketball and wrestling in the winter, and baseball in the spring. In addition, we offer lifetime and adventure sport options, such as rock climbing and skiing. See our Athletics page for more information.

Does Sparhawk offer transportation services?

Sparhawk has a shuttle that runs from Montrose in the morning and to Montrose in the afternoon. In addition, we work with our families to help create carpool connections.

What are the school hours?

Parents can drop off boys at the school as early as 7:45 AM. The normal school day begins with a homeroom period at 8:15 AM. At this time we take attendance, make announcements, and organize the day. The first class of the day begins at 8:20 am. The school day ends at 3:15 PM. There are seven 40-minute class periods throughout the day, plus daily Mass, a 45-minute lunch break, and 15-minute breaks in both the morning and the afternoon.

Does the school offer before- or after-school care?

Sparhawk offers an early drop-off program from 7:15-7:45 AM. There is a charge for this program. After school, boys are welcome to stay for Minuteman club, a drop-in homework club that runs Mondays-Thursdays from 3:45-4:45pm. A Sparhawk faculty member provides supervision. There is no charge for Minuteman club.

What towns do Sparhawk Academy students come from?

Most of our students come from Millis and the surrounding towns. We also serve families from over a 20-mile radius, including communities such as Boston, Braintree, Sudbury, Northboro, Littleton, and Bristol, RI.
