A native New Yorker, Demetra Taylor graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in English Language and Literature from Smith College. While earning her Masters in English Education from CUNY Lehman College, she taught high school English in the Bronx. Moving to Massachusetts in 2014, she focused on raising a family and volunteering on town boards in her community. She served as Secretary and Chair on her town’s Library Board of Trustees, successfully campaigning to approve and design a new library for her town. Aside from working at Sparhawk, she tutors high school students in the disciplines of English Literature and History and is a freelance sports and portrait photographer. During her spare time, she enjoys photographing student life at Sparhawk and writing novels. She has three children: two daughters, one in college and one in high school, and one son currently enrolled at Sparhawk. Her husband Dan is an avid volunteer at Sparhawk and currently hosts and produces the podcast Surgite!, which focuses on Sparhawk life and community.
